ROKU Salon FAQ
Your Booking and Preparation
Why is a booking fee required to book my appointment?
A 50% deposit secures your dedicated time slot and confirms your booking with your stylist. It's fully credited toward your service total and helps us manage our schedule efficiently for all clients.
What is the salon’s cancellation and rescheduling policy?
We require a minimum of 48 hours’ notice for any cancellations or changes. Cancellations within this window may forfeit your deposit to cover the reserved stylist's time, as it's often difficult to fill the slot on short notice.
Is there free parking available at the salon?
Street parking is available on many surrounding streets with a pay and display system. Unfortunately there are no free parking areas close by, however, there are many public transport options available.
How should I prepare my hair before a colour appointment?
Please make sure if you are a new client you have been in for a skin test and consultation with your stylist prior to your first colour appointment. Then arrive with hair that is clean and fully dry, ideally washed within 24–48 hours. Avoid heavy styling products so we can accurately assess your colour and condition.
Can I bring my dog or other pets to my appointment?
While we love animals, for the comfort and safety of all our clients and staff, we can only accommodate certified service animals. Thank you for understanding!
Our Service Philosophy
Why do we prioritise hair health over current fashion colours?
Our commitment is to achieving beautiful, long-lasting results while maintaining the absolute integrity of your hair. We will always advise against a colour service that could cause severe damage, recommending deep conditioning treatments or a safer, phased approach instead.
Why can't I leave the salon with wet hair after a colour service?
We insist on drying and styling your hair because it allows us to fully assess that the colour is set, toned, and exactly as you wished. It ensures we guarantee the quality of our work before you leave the salon.
Why can't I get a dry cut at ROKU Salon?
For ultimate precision and accuracy, especially on new clients or complex styles, we prefer to cut hair when it is freshly washed and wet. This allows us to properly account for your hair's natural texture, density, and movement.
Do I need a consultation before a major colour change?
Yes, even if you are a regular colour client, a complimentary, no-obligation consultation is required for all significant colour changes. This ensures we create a safe, detailed plan and can provide an accurate quote and timing estimate.
Do you use high quality colour products that will cause the least damage to my hair?
Yes, we select high-quality products from various professional brands known for their integrity and effectiveness. We can explain exactly what we're using and why it's beneficial for your hair health.
Treatments and Maintenance
What treatments do you offer to improve hair strength and moisture?
We offer a range of targeted treatments, such as deep conditioning masks and bond-building treatments, designed to restore shine, elasticity, and strength. We will recommend the best option after analysing your hair's needs.
How often should I come in for trims to maintain healthy ends?
The ideal frequency depends on your hair's condition and goals (e.g., growing it out). Generally, we recommend a trim every 6–8 weeks to prevent split ends from causing further damage.
What at-home products do you recommend to maintain my hair health at home?
We will provide personalised product recommendations during your visit to help you maintain your hair integrity at home. We have a wide range of professional hair care brands in salon to choose from and our educated team is there to help you.
How often should I wash my hair?
This varies on hair type and lifestyle — your stylist can help recommend a personalised washing schedule at home. Overwashing can strip natural oils and underwashing can cause buildup of products, dead skin cells and unfriendly bacteria on your scalp.
Pricing and Tipping
Why is the price of services listed as “starting from”?
Our “starting from” prices reflect a standard service duration and product usage. The final price is customised based on factors like your hair length, density, the complexity of the technique, and the amount of product required.
Why does my colour service take so long?
Quality can't be rushed! The time accounts for detailed application techniques (like balayage or root melting), necessary processing time for the colour to fully develop, and critical post-colour care steps like toning and conditioning treatments.
Do I need to tip my stylist in the UK?
Tipping is always appreciated but never expected in the UK. If you feel your stylist provided an exceptional service, a standard industry tip is usually around 10–15% of the service cost. Tips can be made through Easy Tip which is located at the reception desk.
